Sun, Moon, Eclipse

When the moon kisses the stars at night,

it is not done out of love, but out of lust,

and out of the sorrow that burdens him,

as he endlessly chases his one true love.

The sun, with her life-sustaining warmth,

much too busy casting light upon the race of man,

notices not the moon’s hopeless pursuit.

As sable night fades into azure morning,

remember the impossibility of the lasting union between sun and moon.

But wait!

What about the eclipse?

When the two celestial lovers meet in the sky,

and man is left in the dark?

In those brief, precious moments,

the moon and sun are one together.

but alas, those moments are never long enough for the moon to explain, just how sorry he is that he takes comfort in the stars,

and that when the eclipse is over,

the chase must begin once more.
