Osaka Rose
by Paula Williamson
Strong brown body
birthed three tawny-toned, curly-haired boys
before you.
My inflated belly jumps
with each movement you make.
Skin taut and tattooed with lines and grooves.
Burrowed in one corner of my womb
no erratic, painful kicks
you don’t squirm.
My body swells from your presence
It’s all rhythm and blues with you babe
gentle waves
harmonized flow
Carrying you is different
The ways you make yourself known
Like most women,
you make your temporary house
a home.
