POETRY STAFF

zaum xs 2022

Alana McPherson

a senior graduating in spring 2022 with a degree in English and a concentration in creative writing. She has no idea what she’d like to do with that degree but has an interest in marketing and hopes to be able to utilize creative writing in some way. One day she hopes to find the motivation to write a children’s book. She enjoys writing poetry, putting Sriracha on everything, and flying kites at Bodega.

Amanda Pape

a senior graduating spring 2022, earning her BA in English with a concentration in literature. In addition to working on the Zaum poetry editing team, she has also worked as a poetry editor for student-run Flux Magazine. In 2017 she published her first experimental poetry collection Wendigo: A Book of Poetry, and has had multiple poetry pieces published in Zaum. In the near future, she hopes to publish a series of conceptual and personal chapbooks she has in progress. You can usually find her arguing with her cat or convening with the trees.

Amanda Yebra

a third year student majoring in Psychology and English with a creative writing concentration. She is currently a member of the poetry group of Zaum. Yebra has had experience writing and editing editorials in the local newspaper of her hometown, and now focuses on writing poetry and short stories. She fills her limited free time with movie marathons with her roommates and stress baking.

Daisy Gutierrez

graduating May 2022 with her B.A in English, which she hopes to follow with a teaching credential. Recently, her poem “The Cycle of ‘It’” and artwork “To Dust” were published in the twenty-sixth print edition of ZAUM. Now, if only she could take this newfound confidence and apply it to the idea for a book she’s had shelved away like the gift bags she said she’d reuse. “One day” she tells herself whether it’s her book idea, the relinquishing of her soda addiction, or her wish to meet Pedro Pascal.

Jenny Orchard

a senior at Sonoma State University graduating with a BA in English, with a Literature concentration, in Spring 2022. She previously attended Folsom Lake College where she obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in English and an Associate of Arts Degree for transfer. She has attended Sonoma State for two years and plans on obtaining a job in publishing after graduation. In her free time, she reads an obscene amount of books, writes a plethora of stories, and quotes movies any time she feels the urge, much to the amusement of her friends and family. She hopes to always remember to be “one jump ahead of the bread line, that’s all and that’s no joke.” Bet you didn’t see that coming.

Katelyn Roat

a third year student currently studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing and Film at Sonoma State University. She moved from school newspapers and into literary magazines as she moved into college. She writes, reads, and bums around in a respectful manner. Finding inspiration in the media she consumes, she writes often about it on a personal blog.

Sierra Harvey

a fourth year student studying English Literature at Sonoma State University. She aspires to a career in journalism or marketing, but will continue to work retail jobs until her graduation in Spring 2022. During the pandemic she achieved a new appreciation for people who can meet deadlines and a deeper love for science fiction novels. In her free time she enjoys cross stitch, video games, and reading anything recommended to her.
